As diplomatic engagements continue to shape global alliances, Vietnam and Qatar’s growing relationship stands out as a testament to mutual cooperation and shared economic interests. The two nations, which have maintained diplomatic ties since 1993, recently celebrated Vietnam’s National Day in Doha, underscoring their expanding collaboration across various sectors.
The event, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, brought together key figures including senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on Vietnam’s development and its strengthening ties with Qatar, as well as other nations committed to peace and international cooperation.
Trade between Vietnam and Qatar has seen considerable growth, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects a deepening business engagement and the opening of new investment opportunities across numerous fields such as energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
High-level exchanges have been pivotal in fostering this relationship, notably including the visit of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both countries have consistently expressed a strong interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation, aiming to expand their economic partnerships further.
As Vietnam and Qatar continue to build on their diplomatic foundation, the focus remains on creating sustainable economic and social benefits through dialogue and collaboration. This ongoing partnership not only strengthens bilateral ties but also contributes to broader regional stability and prosperity.
