Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, engaged in separate telephone conversations with key international figures to address pressing regional issues. He spoke with Lebanon’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Tarek Mitri, focusing on the relationship between their two nations and assessing the current situation within Lebanon. During this dialogue, Al Khulaifi expressed Qatar’s strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli military actions on Lebanese soil, including the expansion of ground operations in the south and the impact on civilians.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, Al Khulaifi characterized these actions as violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and breaches of international law, emphasizing the potential danger they pose to regional security and stability. He urged an immediate cessation of hostilities, called for adherence to the ceasefire agreement, and insisted on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Al Khulaifi also appealed to the international community to take decisive measures to halt these violations and safeguard Lebanon’s territorial integrity.
Reaffirming Qatar’s steadfast support for Lebanon, Al Khulaifi conveyed Qatar’s commitment to standing by the Lebanese people amidst the ongoing crisis. His remarks underscored Qatar’s dedication to fostering regional peace and stability through diplomatic channels and international cooperation.
In a separate discussion, Al Khulaifi connected with Mali’s Foreign Minister, Abdoulaye Diop, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation and to exchange views on the situation in the African Sahel region. During this conversation, he reiterated Qatar’s solidarity with Mali, expressing support for the nation’s efforts to uphold security and stability and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
