Qatar, Egypt Boost Economic and Business Ties for Mutual Growth

In a bid to bolster their bilateral ties, Qatar and Egypt have reiterated their dedication to enhancing cooperation in several pivotal sectors, including economic, investment, and labor spheres. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The discussions took place in Cairo during the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

The dialogue between the two nations highlighted the impressive growth in their economic relations, with trade experiencing an 80 percent increase in 2025. Another focal point was the expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, notably a project aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Both parties expressed optimism about the continued strengthening of these economic ties.

In addition to economic matters, the officials addressed labor and consular cooperation, and they assessed regional developments. A significant portion of the discussion centered on finding ways to reduce tensions and foster stability in the region. They emphasized the need for ongoing coordination concerning the situation in Gaza and reiterated their support for diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.

Furthermore, Qatar and Egypt underscored the critical importance of ensuring maritime security and safeguarding the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. These efforts are aimed at protecting international trade routes and maintaining regional stability, reflecting a shared interest in the security of these vital waterways.
