At the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and CEO of QatarEnergy, emphasized the need for a global framework that prioritizes energy security over political conflicts. His remarks come amid a severe global energy crisis, exacerbated by ongoing regional tensions that have disrupted the flow of about 20 percent of the world’s hydrocarbon supplies.

Al Kaabi expressed Qatar’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and underscored the importance of international cooperation to ensure stable energy supplies. He noted that attacks on energy infrastructure have resulted in billions of dollars in damage, contributing to heightened market volatility. Al Kaabi’s comments highlight the critical link between energy security and geopolitical stability, which remains vital to the global economy.

The meeting in Riyadh gathered energy ministers, government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from international organizations to discuss pressing issues related to energy security and supply chain resilience. Al Kaabi called for enhanced international efforts to protect energy assets and strengthen supply chains, especially in light of growing regional tensions that threaten reliable energy supplies.

The forum served as a platform for dialogue on shifting global demand and supply dynamics, with stakeholders exploring strategies to address the challenges posed by geopolitical conflicts and their impact on energy markets. Al Kaabi’s appeal for keeping energy out of political disputes aims to foster a more stable and secure global energy landscape.
