Qatar and Saudi Arabia are taking significant steps to boost their economic, trade, and industrial cooperation. This development follows discussions held through the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council, where senior officials from both nations reviewed ongoing joint initiatives and explored ways to enhance bilateral trade, support private-sector businesses, and foster economic integration.

The economic ties between the two countries have shown impressive growth, with trade reaching approximately $1.98 billion in 2025, marking a 36 percent increase from the previous year. The upward trend continued in the first quarter of 2026, as bilateral trade rose by about 18 percent, surpassing their initial target of 15 percent. During this period, Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to over $1.42 billion, and more than 977 Saudi companies were operating in Qatar.

Key discussions during the council meeting included facilitating import and export procedures, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and improving supply-chain integration. The officials also addressed expanding financial cooperation and considered measures to overcome trade barriers, aiming to create a more conducive environment for companies operating in both markets.

In addition to immediate cooperation efforts, both countries are preparing to launch a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy. This strategy will outline priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the next phase of their economic collaboration, further strengthening the bilateral relationship.

Both Qatar and Saudi Arabia expressed commitment to completing agreed initiatives and tackling outstanding trade challenges. The continued focus on economic and industrial integration is expected to facilitate sustained growth and development for both nations in the coming years.
