Iran has suggested establishing a formal system to manage traffic through the strait, which includes a non-discriminatory fee to support environmental and maritime safety initiatives. Nevertheless, international maritime organizations have dismissed the concept of implementing tolls or selective charges on critical international straits.
Oman continues to assert its commitment to upholding free navigation as per international maritime regulations and does not charge transit tolls. Instead, the country provides essential maritime services such as rescue operations and navigation assistance.
